The Roman Catholic Church - Diocese of Oradea, made a noble gesture for the inhabitants and visitors of the city, by completely rehabilitating the building on Republicii Avenue no. 33, where Apotheca Rodia functioned for 250 years. Thus, an impressive museum came to life - the Pharmacy Museum, officially opened on May 18, 2019.
250 pharmaceutical activity in Oradea
The exhibition is permanent and is displayed in the exact space where the pharmacy operated for two and a half centuries. It includes original furniture and recently discovered 18th-century murals.
In addition, here you will be able to see “(...) over 1500 artefacts partially from the old pharmacy, respectively collected through the joint effort of the Diocese and the community of our city. In the 4 exhibition spaces, visitors can admire both epoch interiors and handcrafted tools and technologies of pre-industrial pharmacy”, as mentioned by the representatives of the Roman Catholic Church - Diocese of Oradea.
Whether you are passionate about pharmacy and medicine or not, the Pharmacy Museum is a real hourglass through which more than two centuries have passed.
