Oradea's city administration is modernizing its public transportation system by purchasing new trams and electric charging stations. The National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) will fund the procurement of seven trams and 45 electric charging stations.
The purchase will be made following the Ministry of Development, Public Works and Administration's approval of the project "Modernization of the tram fleet in Oradea Municipality - stage 1," which was submitted for financing through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), Component C10 - Local Fund, Operation I1.1 - Renewal of the vehicle fleet intended for public transportation.
The PNRR will fund the acquisition of the seven trams as well as the installation of 45 charging stations for electric vehicles. According to the feasibility study, the unit value of a tram is 8,785,612.99 lei (without VAT), or 1,784,714.28 euros (without VAT), whereas the unit value of an electric vehicle charging station is 123,067.50 lei (without VAT), or 25,000 euros (without VAT). The project has a total cost of 79,774,420.80 lei (with VAT) or 16,205,419.95 euros (value with VAT included). The PNRR financing rate is 100 percent.
The project was submitted for funding by Oradea City Hall's Management Directorate for Projects with International Funding.
The city of Oradea continues to invest in projects in the field of public transportation in an effort to improve the appeal of these modes of transportation through the purchase of new trams and buses as well as through other ancillary actions that improve passenger comfort. A new tram route between Calea Aradului - Ceyrat - Cantemir was completed and the municipality of Oradea purchased 20 new trams and 22 new buses in the past two years.
